Oi Va Voi
Klezmer clarinets, Balkan rhythms and electronic beats on a Sunday evening: on 8 November 2026 the London collective Oi Va Voi plays the small hall of the Effenaar.
Who are Oi Va Voi?
Oi Va Voi is a London-based collective that has been making music for more than twenty years. Their name is Yiddish for "oh dear God", and that sense of humour and warmth runs through their music. The band blends Jewish musical traditions and Eastern European folk with electronica, pop and hip-hop, creating a sound that is both old and modern: you might hear a melody that sounds like a wedding song from a Central European village over a beat that would work in a London club.
The band's latest album, The Water's Edge, was released in 2025. Its songs are about connection and hope, themes that fit a band whose music has always crossed borders between cultures, styles and generations.
What to expect
Oi Va Voi are known as a lively live band, with violin, clarinet or trumpet, guitars, bass, drums and electronics, and singers who move between English and other languages. Their concerts often turn into a celebration, with an audience that starts dancing halfway through. If you like world music, folk with a modern twist or simply music with a lot of soul, this is a good evening out.

GLOW in the city
Oi Va Voi play on the second evening of GLOW, the free light art festival that turns the city centre into a five-kilometre walking route of light installations every evening from 18:30 to 23:00. You could walk part of the route before the concert, or after it: the route passes close to the Effenaar and the station area.
For internationals
Oi Va Voi's music needs no translation, and the band itself is an international mix. The Effenaar staff speak English, and the audience at a world-music concert like this is often as diverse as the music. If you are new in Eindhoven and looking for a relaxed Sunday evening plan, this is a good one.
Tips for the evening
- Book dinner in advance. During GLOW week, restaurants in the centre are busy; the Effenaar's own restaurant is a convenient option.
- Arrive in time to find a good spot in the small hall, which holds about 400 people.
- Dress warmly if you plan to walk the GLOW route afterwards: November evenings can be cold.
Getting there
The Effenaar is at Dommelstraat 2, about five minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal, so it is easy to reach by train from anywhere in the Netherlands. Cyclists can use the bike parking at the station. Stratumseind and the city centre are around the corner for a drink or dinner before or after the show, and the Effenaar also has its own restaurant, where you can reserve a table.
