SUMMARY:Dutch Design Week 2026
LOCATION:Klokgebouw\, Klokgebouw 50\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:For nine days in October\, Eindhoven becomes the design capital of northern Europe. Dutch Design Week (DDW) 2026 runs from Saturday 17 to Sunday 25 October\, with exhibitions\, installations\, talks and events at more than a hundred locations across the city. If there is one week to experience what makes Eindhoven special\, this is it. What is Dutch Design Week? DDW started in Eindhoven in 2002 and has grown into the largest design event in northern Europe. It is not a trade fair with stands and brochures\, but a festival of ideas. Designers from the Netherlands and abroad show their work in former factories\, studios\, galleries\, shops\, museums and on public squares. You will see prototypes\, experiments\, furniture\, fashion\, materials made from waste\, technology\, graphic design and installations that ask what design can do for the way we live\, eat\, travel and work together. What makes DDW different from many design fairs is that you can talk to the makers. Many designers are present at their own work and are happy to explain the thinking behind it. Students from the Design Academy Eindhoven\, the TU/e and art schools from across Europe show their work alongside established studios and big companies. Where to go The festival is spread over the whole city\, but there are a few main areas: Strijp-S: the former Philips factory site is the heart of DDW. The Klokgebouw holds dozens of exhibitions across its four halls\, from individual designers to group shows of schools and universities\, such as the annual Class of 26 exhibition. Around the Ketelhuisplein you will find installations\, food and drinks. The station area and the city centre: the graduation show of the Design Academy Eindhoven\, large installations on squares and in streets\, and many smaller locations. The museums: the Van Abbemuseum opens its new exhibition Museum as Sundial on the first day of DDW\, and the Philips Museum also takes part. Most locations are open daily from 11:00 to 18:00\, but some have different hours. The DDW app and the official programme on ddw.nl show the details for every location. Tickets Many DDW locations are free. For the biggest exhibitions\, such as the Klokgebouw and the graduation show\, you need a DDW ticket. You exchange your e-ticket once at a DDW ticket sales point for a personal wristband\, which is valid for all nine days. Regular ticket: €32.50. Students and young people aged 11 to 18: €19.50\, with a valid student card or ID. Children under 11: free. The wristband also gives access to the Design Rides\, the shuttle between the main locations. A few locations charge a separate fee per visit\; these are listed on ddw.nl. Group\, school and company tickets are available on invoice. Tips for your visit Pick your favourites. With more than a hundred locations you can't see everything. Choose five to eight things you really want to see and plan the rest around them. Go on a weekday. The weekends are the busiest. Tuesday to Thursday are calmer\, especially in the morning. Wear comfortable shoes. You will walk a lot\, often on concrete floors in old factory halls. Bring a bag for brochures and a water bottle. Most locations have coffee and food nearby\, but it gets busy at lunchtime. With children DDW is great with children. Children under 11 go free\, and the DDW Young programme offers designer routes for different ages. Many installations are interactive\, and the outdoor areas at Strijp-S give children space to run around. Getting there Leave your car at home if you can. Strijp-S has its own train station\, one stop from Eindhoven Centraal\, and many locations in the centre are within walking distance of the station. The bike is the fastest way to get around between locations. If you come by car\, use a P+R location on the edge of the city and take the bus. Language The official programme is available in English\, most designers and staff speak English\, and the exhibitions usually have English texts. DDW is one of the most international weeks of the year in Eindhoven. Read our practical guide to DDW 2026 for more tips\, and see everything else in the calendar for October 2026.

SUMMARY:Wall Stories: Twenty Years of Studio Giftig
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:You have probably walked past their work without knowing their names. Studio Giftig\, the Eindhoven street-art duo of Niels van Swaemen and Kaspar van Leek\, has been painting murals on walls in Eindhoven and far beyond for twenty years. From 17 October to 14 November 2026\, the free exhibition Wall Stories at the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven tells the story behind those walls. From sketch to facade A mural on a building looks effortless when it is finished\, but it starts long before the first spray can is opened. Wall Stories shows the whole process: the first ideas and concept sketches\, the design\, the preparations and finally the finished work on the facade. The exhibition brings together original sketches\, process images and the stories behind the murals\, so you see how an idea grows into a work of art several storeys high. On top of that\, Studio Giftig shows a series of new works on canvas and panel\, made especially for this exhibition and shown for the first time. It is a rare chance to see the artists' work up close\, at eye level\, instead of looking up at a wall. Best mural in the world\, twice Studio Giftig is not just a local favourite. The duo has twice won the award for the best mural in the world\, given by Street Art Cities\, the international platform that maps street art in cities around the globe. One of those awards was for Echoes of Harmony\, the mural on the facade of the Muziekgebouw itself. So when you visit the exhibition\, don't forget to step outside and look up. During GLOW: the mural in light and sound From 7 to 14 November\, during the light festival GLOW\, the exhibition has special evening openings from 18:30 to 23:00 (except on 11 November\, when it is closed for the 11-11 carnival celebrations). During those evenings\, light artist Ivo Schoofs and composer Bas Soetens give Echoes of Harmony a new dimension in light and sound. It is a perfect stop on your GLOW walk through the city centre. Opening hours The exhibition is open on these days from 11:00 to 18:00: October: 17\, 18\, 19\, 20\, 21\, 22\, 24\, 25\, 27\, 28 and 29. November: 1\, 3\, 4\, 5 and 6. During GLOW\, from 7 to 14 November\, it is open from 18:30 to 23:00\, except on 11 November. The exhibition is on one of the floors of the Muziekgebouw\; staff at the entrance will show you the way. Free admission Admission is free\, and you don't need to book. That makes Wall Stories an easy addition to a day in the city centre\, for example combined with Dutch Design Week\, which runs at the same time in the second half of October. For whom? Wall Stories is a good outing for anyone interested in street art\, illustration\, graphic design or the city itself. Children who like drawing will enjoy seeing how a sketch on paper becomes a giant painting on a wall\, and the process images help to explain it. No knowledge of Dutch is needed to enjoy the work\, and the stories behind the murals give you a new view of the walls you pass every day in Eindhoven. Street art in Eindhoven Eindhoven has a lively street-art scene\, with large murals in many neighbourhoods. After visiting the exhibition\, take a walk through the city and see how many walls you recognise. Street Art Cities maps many of them online\, which makes it easy to plan your own mural route. Getting there The Muziekgebouw Eindhoven is on the Heuvel in the city centre\, about a ten-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal. The public entrance is at Heuvel 140. Car parks and guarded bike parking are nearby. See also all culture and exhibitions in Eindhoven and the free events in the city.

SUMMARY:Museum as Sundial
LOCATION:Van Abbemuseum\, Stratumsedijk 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:What if a museum could work like a sundial? That is the question behind Museum as Sundial\, the big autumn and winter exhibition of the Van Abbemuseum. From 17 October 2026 to 21 February 2027\, the museum treats its own historic building as a giant instrument for measuring time and light. A building made for the sun The idea is not as strange as it sounds. The old building of the Van Abbemuseum\, designed by Alexander Kropholler and opened in 1936\, was built about ninety years ago with the sun in mind: the light falls through the building in a carefully planned way. For this exhibition\, director Defne Ayas and the museum team take that idea further. They present the sundial both as an ancient technology and as a contemporary design idea\, and explore how people orient themselves\, through their bodies\, their buildings and their communities\, in relation to the sun. The central gallery of the old building is the point of orientation\, with the surrounding galleries extending outward like the markings on a dial. As you walk through the exhibition\, you are invited to notice how light\, time and space change around you. The artists Museum as Sundial brings together artists\, designers and collectives from different generations and backgrounds\, including: Ana María Millán ADEZIV Network EDHV Kiki & Joost Adele Dipasquale Gala Porras-Kim Michael Portnoy Paul Panhuysen Ayumi Paul Ei Arakawa-Nash John Körmeling The spatial design is by Studio Diogo Passarinho\, the graphic design by Studio Remco van Bladel\, and the architectural installation The Fifth Place is by Christian Wassmann. Several of the names have a strong link with Eindhoven: Paul Panhuysen was a key figure in the city's experimental art and music scene\, and John Körmeling is known for playful architecture and public art. Opening and activities The exhibition opens on Saturday 17 October\, the first day of Dutch Design Week\, from 14:00 to 18:00. On the opening day you can also take part in Become Part of The Fifth Place\, an activity by Michael Portnoy. On Saturday 28 November\, Ei Arakawa-Nash gives performances at several moments during the day. Keep an eye on the museum's activities page for talks\, tours and other events during the run of the exhibition. Tickets and opening hours The exhibition is included in a regular museum ticket. Adults: €16. Students\, CJP card and Teacher Card holders: €8. Children under 13: free. Family pass (2 adults and up to 3 children): €32. Free: with a Museumkaart\, and for everyone on Tuesdays from 15:00 to 17:00. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00 and closed on Mondays. During the run of the exhibition the museum is also closed on 25 December and 1 January\, and open on 26 December. During Dutch Design Week the museum is one of the DDW locations\; check ddw.nl for the conditions during that week. Why go? Museum as Sundial is a chance to see the old Van Abbemuseum building in a new light\, quite literally. Visit on a sunny winter afternoon\, when the low sun casts long shadows through the galleries\, and you will understand why the museum chose this theme. The exhibition is in English and Dutch\, so it is easy to follow for international visitors. Getting there The Van Abbemuseum is at Stratumsedijk 2\, about fifteen minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal. The bus stop Bilderdijklaan is a minute's walk away\, and there is bike parking next to the main entrance. See our museums guide and all culture and exhibitions in Eindhoven.

SUMMARY:King King: Scottish Blues Rock
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:If you like your blues loud\, soulful and played with real conviction\, the small hall of the Effenaar is the place to be on Sunday 18 October 2026. King King\, one of the leading blues rock bands of the United Kingdom\, brings its Scottish energy to Eindhoven. Who are King King? King King is a blues rock band from Scotland\, led by singer and guitarist Alan Nimmo\, who is famous on stage for his kilt as much as for his guitar playing. Around him stands a band of experienced musicians: Stevie Nimmo on guitar and vocals\, Jonny Dyke on keyboards\, Jon Lodge on drums and Zander Greenshields on bass. The band made its debut with the album Take My Hand and has since built a reputation as one of the strongest live acts in British blues rock. Over the years King King has toured with and shared stages with names such as John Mayall's Bluesbreakers\, Thunder and Europe. The Effenaar compares their sound with Free\, Bad Company and Joe Bonamassa: think heavy riffs\, long guitar solos\, warm Hammond organ and a voice with plenty of soul. What to expect A King King concert is about musicianship and atmosphere. Expect songs that build slowly and then explode\, guitar solos that make the audience cheer mid-song\, and quieter\, soulful moments in between. The small hall of the Effenaar holds about 400 people\, which is exactly the right size for this kind of music: close enough to see every note being played\, big enough for a proper rock sound. The audience at blues rock shows tends to be a mix of generations\, from long-time fans of classic rock to younger guitar lovers. You don't need to know the songs to enjoy the evening. Practical information Date: Sunday 18 October 2026. Doors: 19:30. Show: the event page lists 20:00\, while the timetable lists the band from 20:30 to around 22:00. Times can change\, so check the Effenaar website on the day. Hall: small hall (Kleine Zaal)\, standing. Tickets: €29.50 (regular). Effenaar Club Card members attend for free. A Sunday evening plan A concert on Sunday evening is a relaxed way to end the weekend. With the show finishing around ten o'clock\, you are home in good time for Monday. The weekend of 17 and 18 October is also the opening weekend of Dutch Design Week\, so you could spend the afternoon at the exhibitions at Strijp-S or in the city centre and finish the day with some blues rock. For internationals King King sing in English\, the Effenaar staff speak English\, and the crowd at blues rock shows is often international. If you have just moved to Eindhoven and love guitar music\, this is an easy way to discover one of the city's best venues. More guitar music this autumn The autumn programme of the Effenaar is full of guitar bands. On Tuesday 20 October\, two days after King King\, the British duo Blood Red Shoes celebrate their twentieth anniversary in the same hall\, and on 1 November Temples bring their psychedelic pop. See all music in Eindhoven. Getting there The Effenaar is at Dommelstraat 2\, about five minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal\, so it is easy to reach by train from anywhere in the Netherlands. Cyclists can use the bike parking at the station. Stratumseind and the city centre are around the corner for a drink or dinner before or after the show\, and the Effenaar also has its own restaurant\, where you can reserve a table. SUMMARY:Blood Red Shoes: 20th Anniversary Show
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Two people\, one guitar\, one drum kit and a lot of noise: that has been the recipe of Blood Red Shoes for twenty years. On Tuesday 20 October 2026 the British duo celebrates its anniversary with an intimate club show in the small hall of the Effenaar. Who are Blood Red Shoes? Blood Red Shoes come from Brighton\, on the south coast of England. The band consists of Laura-Mary Carter on guitar and vocals and Steven Ansell on drums and vocals. With only two members\, they make a surprisingly big sound: raw\, loud and full of energy\, somewhere between indie\, punk and rock. They are often compared with other famous duos such as The White Stripes\, The Black Keys and The Kills\, but anyone who has seen them live knows they have their own sound\, with two voices that trade lines and harmonise. Their breakthrough came with the album Box of Secrets in 2008\, full of short\, sharp songs that made them a favourite at indie clubs and festivals across Europe. Since then they have released several albums\, with their most recent studio album\, Ghosts On Tape\, released in 2022. Over the years their music has grown darker and more varied\, but the urgency of their early records has never disappeared. Twenty years on the road In 2026 Blood Red Shoes celebrate twenty years as a band\, and they are doing it the way they started: in small clubs\, close to their audience. The Effenaar's small hall holds about 400 people\, which makes it the perfect place to see a band that thrives on energy and sweat. Expect songs from across their career\, from the early singles that made them popular to later work. Support: Sm^sher The evening opens with Sm^sher\, the support act announced by the Effenaar. Arrive on time if you want to catch them. Practical information Date: Tuesday 20 October 2026. Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:15. Hall: small hall (Kleine Zaal) of the Effenaar. Tickets: €29 (regular ticket). Effenaar Club Card members can attend for free. Standing: the small hall is a standing venue. Ticket prices and availability can change\, so check the Effenaar website before you go. On the evening itself\, keep the time the doors open in mind: the start time on the ticket is not the time the main act starts. With a support act first\, Blood Red Shoes will probably take the stage later in the evening. Why go? If you like guitar music with energy\, this is one of the best club shows of the autumn. Duos like Blood Red Shoes are at their best in small venues\, where you can see every drumbeat and every guitar riff up close. It is also a nice midweek plan during Dutch Design Week\, which runs in Eindhoven at the same time: spend the day at the exhibitions\, and end it at the Effenaar. For internationals The band sings in English\, the Effenaar staff speak English\, and a midweek concert is a great way to discover the Eindhoven music scene if you are new in the city. The audience at the Effenaar is a mix of locals\, students and internationals. Getting there The Effenaar is at Dommelstraat 2\, about five minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal\, which makes it easy to come by train from elsewhere in the country. After the show\, the bars of Stratumseind and the city centre are close by. See all music in Eindhoven and our guide to nightlife.

SUMMARY:Sustainable Weekly Market on the Wilhelminaplein
LOCATION:Wilhelminaplein\, Wilhelminaplein\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Every Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00\, the Wilhelminaplein on the western edge of the city centre fills with stalls for the Duurzame Weekmarkt\, the sustainable weekly market of Eindhoven. Entry is free\, and it is one of the nicest ways to start a Saturday in the city. What is the Duurzame Weekmarkt? "Duurzaam" is Dutch for sustainable\, and that is what this market is about. Instead of the usual mix of cheap clothes and phone cases you find at some markets\, the focus here is on food and products that are made with care: think fruit and vegetables\, bread\, cheese and other food\, often from local and organic producers. It is a market for people who like to know where their food comes from\, and who like to chat with the people who make it. The Wilhelminaplein is a pleasant square with cafés and terraces around it\, so many visitors combine their shopping with a coffee or lunch. On sunny Saturdays the square is one of the liveliest places in the city. Practical information When: every Saturday\, 10:00 to 16:00. Where: Wilhelminaplein\, 5611 HE Eindhoven. Admission: free. The market takes place every week. Times can differ on public holidays\, for example around Christmas and King's Day. This listing shows the Saturdays up to the end of April 2027\; we will extend it after checking the dates for the summer season. Tips for your visit Come early for the best choice of fresh products\; popular items can be sold out by the afternoon. Bring your own bag. In the Netherlands plastic bags are not free\, and at a sustainable market a reusable bag is part of the spirit. Paying: most stalls accept cards\, but a little cash is always handy at a market. Ask for a taste. At many cheese and food stalls you can try before you buy. Just ask. Practise your Dutch. Market traders are patient with learners. "Mag ik een stukje proeven?" (may I have a taste?) is a good start\, but English works fine too. For internationals For newcomers\, the market is a great introduction to Dutch food: try different kinds of cheese\, seasonal vegetables you may not know\, and freshly baked bread. It is also a good place to feel at home in the neighbourhood\, since many regular visitors come every week. Around the Wilhelminaplein The square is at the end of the Kleine Berg\, a street full of restaurants from around the world\, and at the start of the Bergen quarter\, one of the oldest parts of the city centre\, with small shops\, galleries and cafés. The Markt and the Catharinakerk are within walking distance\, and the Van Abbemuseum is about ten minutes' walk away\, so a market visit easily turns into a day in the city. Other markets in Eindhoven Eindhoven has weekly markets in many neighbourhoods\, from the Woenselse Markt on Saturdays to markets on Wednesdays\, Thursdays and Fridays. You will find an overview in the markets category. Getting there The Wilhelminaplein is about a fifteen-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal. There are bike racks around the square. Several buses stop nearby\; check 9292.nl for the best connection. See all markets\, the free events and what's on this weekend in Eindhoven.

SUMMARY:PSV vs Feyenoord (Eredivisie)
LOCATION:Philips Stadion\, Frederiklaan 10a\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Few matches in Dutch football are as big as PSV against Feyenoord. On Sunday 25 October 2026 the two clubs meet at the Philips Stadion in the Eredivisie\, the Dutch top league. Kick-off is at 14:30. A classic of Dutch football Together with Ajax\, PSV and Feyenoord are the traditional "big three" of Dutch football. All three have won the European Cup or Champions League: Feyenoord in 1970\, PSV in 1988. Matches between them are some of the most anticipated of the season\, with full stadiums\, a lot of atmosphere and often consequences for the title race. For PSV fans\, a match against Feyenoord from Rotterdam is about more than three points. It is Brabant against the big city of the west\, Eindhoven against Rotterdam. Even if you are not (yet) a football fan\, a match like this is a great way to experience something that is deeply part of life in Eindhoven. PSV and the Philips Stadion PSV was founded in 1913 as the sports club of Philips employees\, and has played on the same site in the Strijp district ever since. The stadium holds about 35\,000 spectators. The club's greatest triumph was the European Cup of 1988\, won on penalties against Benfica. PSV fans proudly call themselves "boeren" (farmers)\, a nod to the club's Brabant roots. Tickets Tickets for big matches like this are hard to get. Many seats go to season-ticket holders and members with a PSV Club Card\, and the demand for matches against Feyenoord and Ajax is very high. Check the ticket information on psv.nl\, and only buy tickets through PSV's official channels: unofficial tickets may be refused at the gate. We don't list a price because ticket sales and prices depend on your membership. If you can't get a ticket\, watching the match in a café in the city centre is the next best thing. Many bars around the Markt and on Stratumseind show PSV matches on big screens. Match day tips Check the time. Kick-off times can change\, for example for television. PSV's match centre always shows the latest time. Arrive early. Entry to the stadium takes time\, especially at big matches. Plan to be at the gate well before kick-off. Leave the car at home. The streets around the stadium get busy and some are closed on match days. Walking or cycling from the centre is often fastest. Bring ID. At many matches you may be asked to show identification along with your ticket. Wear red and white. PSV's colours are red and white. Feyenoord fans wear red\, white and black. For newcomers If you have just moved to Eindhoven\, colleagues will almost certainly ask whether you have been to the Philips Stadion yet. Going to a match is one of the best ways to understand the city and its pride. Atmosphere at the stadium is loud but generally friendly\, and many families go to matches together. Getting there The Philips Stadion is at Frederiklaan 10a\, about a fifteen-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal. There is bike parking around the stadium. Later this season PSV also plays at home in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid on 9 December. See all sports and outdoors events in Eindhoven.

Over the years he has released four well-received albums\, scored international hits and toured the world. His music is often described as dreamy folk: songs that feel big and intimate at the same time\, with warm vocals\, acoustic guitars and arrangements that slowly swell into something grand. The Effenaar files the concert under pop and rock as well as singer-songwriter and Americana. In October 2025 he released the single Last Goodbyes\, a song about holding on to the memory of a person or a place that shaped your life\, in the warm\, almost hymn-like style that his fans love. It was the first sign of a new album\, his fifth. Dotan himself has said that this fifth album feels more like a second debut\, which suggests a fresh start rather than more of the same. What to expect Concerts by Dotan tend to be emotional\, communal evenings\, with an audience that sings along to the choruses. The main hall of the Effenaar holds about 1\,300 people. Expect a mix of familiar songs and new material from the upcoming album. Practical information Date: Sunday 25 October 2026. Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:15. Hall: main hall (Grote Zaal). Tickets: €39.50. The concert is sold out. Looking for a ticket? Because the show is sold out\, the Effenaar points fans to its own resale platform\, where ticket holders who can't go can offer their tickets at a fair price. Be careful with tickets offered on social media or through unofficial websites: they may be fake or heavily overpriced\, and they can be refused at the door. Only buy through the official channels listed on the Effenaar website. The end of Dutch Design Week 25 October is the final day of Dutch Design Week. If you have a ticket\, you could spend the afternoon at the last exhibitions at Strijp-S or in the centre and walk over to the Effenaar in the evening. On the same day\, PSV play Feyenoord at the Philips Stadion in the afternoon\, so expect a busy city. For internationals Dotan sings in English\, and his music needs no translation. If you are new in Eindhoven\, the Effenaar is a good place to get to know the local music scene\, and its programme regularly features artists who sing in English. SUMMARY:PSV vs Willem II (Eredivisie)
LOCATION:Philips Stadion\, Frederiklaan 10a\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:A Brabant derby on a Saturday evening: on 31 October 2026 PSV welcome Willem II from Tilburg to the Philips Stadion in the Eredivisie\, the Dutch top league. Kick-off is at 18:45. A derby in the province Willem II comes from Tilburg\, about half an hour west of Eindhoven\, in the same province of North Brabant. That makes this match a regional derby\, with neighbours who know each other well. Willem II is one of the oldest professional clubs in the Netherlands\, named after King William II\, who had close ties with Tilburg. For PSV fans the match against "the Tricolores" (named after their red\, white and blue shirts) is a chance for bragging rights in Brabant. PSV at home PSV was founded in 1913 as the sports club of Philips employees and has played on the same site in the Strijp district ever since. The Philips Stadion holds about 35\,000 spectators. The club won the European Cup in 1988 and has won the Dutch league many times. On match days the streets around the stadium fill with red and white\, and the atmosphere inside is loud and proud. Tickets As with most PSV home matches\, many tickets go to season-ticket holders and members with a PSV Club Card. Check the ticket information on psv.nl well in advance\, and only buy through PSV's official channels: unofficial tickets can be refused at the gate. We don't list a price because ticket sales and prices depend on your membership. No ticket? Many cafés in the city centre show PSV matches on big screens\, which is the next best way to experience the match. Match-day tips Check the kick-off time. Times can change for television. PSV's match centre always shows the latest time. Arrive early. Entry takes time\; be at the stadium well before kick-off. Bring ID. You may be asked to show identification with your ticket. Leave the car at home. Streets around the stadium are busy and partly closed. Walking or cycling from the centre is usually fastest. Wear red and white\, the colours of PSV. Halloween and more 31 October is a busy Saturday evening in Eindhoven. It is Halloween\, the Muziekgebouw hosts the Polish festival Witaj Eindhoven\, and the bars of Stratumseind fill up after the match. If you come from outside the city\, check your train home on ns.nl. For newcomers If you have just moved to Eindhoven\, a match at the Philips Stadion is one of the best ways to understand the city's pride. The atmosphere is loud but generally friendly\, and many families go together. An evening kick-off on a Saturday is ideal: you can have dinner in the city centre afterwards. Getting there The Philips Stadion is at Frederiklaan 10a\, about a fifteen-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal\, and there is bike parking around the stadium. SUMMARY:Witaj Eindhoven: T.Love
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Eindhoven has a large Polish community\, and once a year the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven celebrates it. On Saturday 31 October 2026\, Witaj Eindhoven\, a festival entirely dedicated to Polish culture\, returns for its third edition\, with the legendary Polish rock band T.Love as headliner. Witaj Eindhoven "Witaj" means "welcome" in Polish\, and that is the spirit of the festival. Witaj Eindhoven brings Polish music and culture to the city for everyone: for the many Poles who live and work in and around Eindhoven\, and for anyone curious about the culture of one of the largest international communities in the region. The festival is organised by the Muziekgebouw with partners including the Polish Embassy\, Eindhoven Airport and several Polish organisations and schools in the region. The doors open early\, at 17:00\, so there is time for the rest of the festival programme before the headliner takes the stage at 20:15. Check the Muziekgebouw website for the full programme of the day. Who are T.Love? T.Love is one of the best-known rock bands of Poland. The band was formed in 1982 in Częstochowa and started out as a punk band\, in the years when punk was a form of protest in communist Poland. Over the decades the band's sound moved towards rock and roll\, with influences from reggae\, glam rock and pop rock. Frontman Muniek Staszczyk is known for his energetic performances and for lyrics that look critically and often humorously at Polish society. Among the band's best-known songs are Warszawa and King\, which generations of Polish fans can sing word for word. For Polish visitors\, a T.Love concert in Eindhoven is a piece of home\; for everyone else\, it is a chance to discover one of the classic bands of Polish rock. Practical information Date: Saturday 31 October 2026. Doors: 17:00. Start of T.Love: 20:15. Hall: Hertog Jan Zaal\, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tickets: €39.50. Seating: free seating\, with standing places and a limited number of seats. Arrive early if you want to sit. Language T.Love sing in Polish. You don't need to understand the lyrics to enjoy a rock concert\, but it helps to know that many songs are about life in Poland\, freedom and society. The Muziekgebouw's own information is available in Dutch and English. A busy evening in the city 31 October is a busy Saturday in Eindhoven. PSV play Willem II at the Philips Stadion in the early evening\, and it is also Halloween\, which several venues celebrate with themed nights. The public entrance is at Heuvel 140. Car parks\, including the one under the Heuvel shopping centre\, and guarded bike parking are nearby. SUMMARY:Temples\, with Support From PAUW
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Psychedelic guitars\, sixties harmonies and\, these days\, a dancefloor: on Sunday 1 November 2026 the British band Temples plays the small hall of the Effenaar\, with the Dutch band PAUW as support. Who are Temples? Temples are a British retro-psych band that broke through in 2014 with their debut album Sun Structures. The record was full of swirling guitars\, layered vocals and melodies that sounded like a lost album from the late 1960s\, and it made Temples part of the neo-psychedelic revival of that decade\, alongside bands such as Tame Impala and MGMT. Songs from that album became favourites on indie radio and at festivals across Europe. Since then the band has kept changing its sound. Their fifth album\, BLISS\, moves towards dance music\, with glossy synths\, more groove and a nod to the dance music of the late 1990s\, while keeping the dreamy melodies the band is known for. Live\, that combination of psychedelic rock and danceable rhythms makes for a colourful show. A nice detail for Dutch fans: the band's drummer\, Rens Ottink\, is Dutch\, which gives this show in Eindhoven a bit of a home-game feeling. Support: PAUW The evening opens with PAUW\, a Dutch psychedelic rock band that fits perfectly with Temples. If you like the sound of the headliner\, arrive in time for the support act. Practical information Date: Sunday 1 November 2026. Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:15. Hall: small hall (Kleine Zaal) of the Effenaar. Tickets: €28 (regular ticket). Effenaar Club Card members can attend for free. Standing: the small hall is a standing venue for about 400 people. Prices and availability can change\; always check the Effenaar website before you go. As usual in the Netherlands\, the time on the ticket is not the time the main act starts: with a support act first\, Temples will probably play later in the evening. Why go? The small hall of the Effenaar is an ideal place to see a band like Temples: close enough to see every guitar effect and synth\, with a sound system that does justice to the layers in their music. A Sunday evening concert is also a nice way to end the weekend\, and with doors at 19:30 you are home at a reasonable hour for work on Monday. For internationals The band sings in English\, and the Effenaar is used to an international audience. If you are new in Eindhoven\, a concert at the Effenaar is one of the easiest ways to discover the city's music scene. More music the same week The beginning of November is busy at the Effenaar\, with concerts almost every evening. Elsewhere in the city\, the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven hosts classical concerts and singer-songwriters\, and from 7 November the city centre lights up for GLOW. Check the calendar for November 2026 for everything that is on. Getting there The Effenaar is at Dommelstraat 2\, about five minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal. On Sunday evenings trains run less often than on weekdays\, so check your connection home on ns.nl if you come from outside the city. See all music in Eindhoven and our guide to nightlife.

SUMMARY:SPYAIR: Europe Tour 2026
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Anime fans\, this one is for you. On Wednesday 4 November 2026 the Japanese rock band SPYAIR brings its Europe Tour 2026 to the main hall of the Effenaar. It is a rare chance to see one of Japan's best-known rock bands in the Netherlands. Who are SPYAIR? SPYAIR is a rock band from Nagoya\, Japan's fourth-largest city\, and one of the most iconic rock bands in the country. Outside Japan\, many people know their music without realising it: the band has written theme songs for popular anime series\, including Gintama and Haikyu!!\, the volleyball anime with a huge international following. Those songs\, full of energy\, big guitar riffs and anthemic choruses\, have introduced SPYAIR to fans all over the world. Their music is a mix of rock\, pop-punk and arena rock\, made for singing along and jumping. Live\, the band is known for its energy and for the strong connection with the audience\, who often know every word\, even if they don't speak Japanese. Europe Tour 2026 The concert in Eindhoven is part of the SPYAIR Europe Tour 2026. Japanese rock bands don't tour Europe very often\, so these concerts tend to draw fans from far beyond the city: expect people from across the Netherlands\, Belgium and Germany\, many of them in anime-inspired outfits. Practical information Date: Wednesday 4 November 2026. Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:15. Hall: main hall (Grote Zaal)\, standing. Tickets: €58.70 (regular). A ticket including a meet and greet costs €106.20. Prices and availability can change\; always check the Effenaar website. Meet-and-greet tickets are usually limited. Language SPYAIR sing mostly in Japanese\, with some lines in English. As at every anime-rock concert\, the audience sings along anyway. You don't need to understand the lyrics to feel the energy. Champions League the same evening On the same Wednesday evening\, PSV play Club Brugge in the Champions League at the Philips Stadion\, with kick-off at 21:00. The city will be busy\, especially around Eindhoven Centraal\; give yourself some extra time. For internationals Eindhoven has a large international community\, including many people from Asia who work at the companies around the city or study at the TU/e. A concert like this brings different communities together around a shared love of anime and rock music. Tips for the evening Arrive early if you want a spot near the front: fans of Japanese bands often queue well before the doors open. Merchandise from Japanese tours is popular and can sell out\; the merch stand is usually open from the moment the doors open. Bring earplugs. Rock concerts in the main hall are loud\, and good earplugs make the evening more comfortable. SUMMARY:Electric Eel Shock\, with Support From De Stekkers
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Loud\, fast and completely over the top: on Friday 6 November 2026 the Japanese rock-'n-roll power trio Electric Eel Shock plays the Effenaar\, with the Eindhoven garage band De Stekkers as support. Who are Electric Eel Shock? Electric Eel Shock is a power trio from Japan that has been playing since 1994. In more than thirty years the band has built a cult following in Europe\, the United States and at home\, mostly through relentless touring. Their sound mixes metal\, garage rock and stoner rock: heavy riffs\, fast tempos and choruses made for shouting along. Over the years they have toured with bands such as Danko Jones and Bloodhound Gang. The band is famous above all for its live shows. Electric Eel Shock concerts are known for their energy and humour\, with a band that clearly has fun on stage and an audience that responds in kind. If you like your rock raw and your evenings sweaty\, this is a show for you. Support: De Stekkers The evening opens with De Stekkers\, a five-piece garage band from Eindhoven itself. It is a nice chance to discover the local scene: Eindhoven has a lively underground of rock and garage bands\, many of which grew up playing the Effenaar's smaller stages. Practical information Date: Friday 6 November 2026. Doors: 20:00. Start: 20:30. Tickets: €20 (regular). Effenaar Club Card members attend for free. Support: De Stekkers. Prices and availability can change\; check the Effenaar website before you go. The event page does not say in which hall the concert takes place\; you will see it on your ticket or the screens at the entrance. Tips for the evening Bring earplugs. Electric Eel Shock is loud\, and earplugs make the evening a lot more comfortable without spoiling the sound. Arrive for the support act. De Stekkers start the evening\, and local bands always appreciate an audience. Leave your coat at the cloakroom. It gets warm at the front. Plan your Friday night. Stratumseind\, the longest pub street in the Netherlands\, is a few minutes' walk away if you want to continue after the show. A Japanese week at the Effenaar Two days earlier\, on Wednesday 4 November\, another Japanese rock band plays the Effenaar: SPYAIR\, known for its anime theme songs. Two very different sides of Japanese rock in one week. For internationals Electric Eel Shock sing mostly in English\, the Effenaar staff speak English\, and the Friday-night crowd at a rock show is a mix of locals\, students and internationals. A €20 ticket for a band with this reputation is also one of the better-value nights out of the autumn. Getting there The Effenaar is at Dommelstraat 2\, about five minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal\, so it is easy to reach by train from anywhere in the Netherlands. SUMMARY:GLOW Eindhoven 2026: Light Art Festival
LOCATION:Markt\, Markt\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Every November\, Eindhoven lives up to its nickname\, the City of Light. From Saturday 7 to Saturday 14 November 2026\, GLOW turns the city centre into a free walking route of light art\, with around 30 installations on squares\, in parks\, against buildings and in unexpected corners of the city. What is GLOW? GLOW is an international light art festival that has been held in Eindhoven since 2006. Artists\, designers and students from the Netherlands and abroad use the city as their canvas\, with projections\, light sculptures\, interactive installations and performances. Founding partners are Signify (the former Philips Lighting) and the Municipality of Eindhoven\, a fitting combination in a city built on light bulbs. The festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The theme of 2026 is CONNECT: encounters\, collaboration and connection. It is also the first edition under the artistic leadership of the new festival director\, Philip Ross. The route The route is about five kilometres long and runs through the city centre\, past places such as the 18 Septemberplein\, the Victoriapark\, the Emmasingel\, the Stadhuisplein\, the Catharinakerk\, the Smalle Haven and the Markt. There is no official starting point: you can join the route anywhere. An interactive map with all the artworks is published online before the festival\, and a printed map costs €2 at the information points along the route. Some highlights announced for this year: Macchina by Tom and Lien Dekyvere on the 18 Septemberplein. A large installation by Nohlab on the Stadhuisplein. Fabellicht by Hugo Vrijdag at the Catharinakerk\, a light project in which children's stories and fantasies come to life. GLOW Dance Collective by Jolie Smets and Robin van Soelen\, selected from more than forty entries to GLOW's first Talent Call. The Breathing Collective\, the first drone show of GLOW\, at the Philips Stadion (ticket required). GLOW also has locations in the region: Best\, Oirschot\, Veldhoven\, Lieshout and Helmond. Opening hours and price Dates: every evening from Saturday 7 to Saturday 14 November 2026. Eindhoven: 18:30 to 23:00. Regional locations: 18:30 to 22:00. Price: free\, no ticket needed. Only the drone show at the Philips Stadion requires a ticket (€2). Tips for your visit Go on a weekday evening. Weekends\, especially the first Saturday\, are the busiest. A weekday evening is more relaxed. Plan about two hours for the full route at a relaxed pace. Book dinner in advance. Restaurants in the centre fill up during festival week. Dress warmly. GLOW is outdoors and goes ahead in the rain. A raincoat works better than an umbrella in the crowds. Photosensitive epilepsy: the festival uses flashing lights and fast colour changes. GLOW advises people with photosensitive epilepsy not to visit. Getting there Driving into the centre is strongly discouraged. Several city-centre streets are closed to traffic from 18:00 to midnight\, and a number of car parks in the centre cannot be entered from 18:30. Instead: Train: Eindhoven Centraal and Eindhoven Strijp-S are both close to the route. Bus: pay with your bank card\, credit card or phone (OVpay). Bike: bike parking at the 18 Septemberplein\, the Heuvel\, Eindhoven Centraal (north side) and the Genneper Parken. Car: pre-book a parking spot on the edge of the centre\, for example at the Evoluon\, from where buses run into the city. Accessibility The route is fully wheelchair-accessible\, which also makes it easy with a pushchair. Accessible toilets are available at several points\, such as the Heuvel. With children GLOW is one of the best evenings out with children in Eindhoven. Projects such as Fabellicht are made especially for young visitors. SUMMARY:The Breathing Collective: GLOW Drone Show at the Philips Stadion
LOCATION:Philips Stadion\, Frederiklaan 10a\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:For the first time in its history\, GLOW brings a drone show to Eindhoven. During the light festival\, from 7 to 14 November 2026\, The Breathing Collective fills the Philips Stadion\, the home of PSV\, with drones\, light and sound. It is also the first time since 2019 that GLOW returns to the stadium. What is The Breathing Collective? The Breathing Collective is a drone and light installation by TWOFIFTYK\, a creative design studio from Eindhoven. Inside the stadium\, a swarm of drones moves together with light and sound in a show of about fifteen minutes. The theme fits GLOW's 2026 theme\, CONNECT: the show explores the relationship between the individual and the collective\, between one point of light and the whole that many points create together. Anyone who has ever sat in a full stadium will feel the connection: thousands of people breathing\, singing and moving as one. Show times There are four shows every evening\, from Saturday 7 to Saturday 14 November: 18:30 19:15 20:00 20:45 Each show lasts about fifteen minutes. If demand is high\, the organisers may add extra stands or performances. Tickets Unlike the rest of GLOW\, the drone show requires a ticket\, because the number of places in the stadium is limited. Price: €2 per ticket\, plus transaction fees. Children up to and including 3 years old: free\, with a parent. If the show is fully booked\, they sit on a parent's lap. Wheelchair tickets are available and include one companion. Changing your time slot is free\, subject to availability\, up to 24 hours before the show\, using the link in your confirmation e-mail. Tickets cannot be refunded or cancelled. Seating is free within the stand section you choose\, and your ticket tells you which entrance to use. Before you go Arrive on time. Check-in opens 30 minutes before your time slot. You may need to wait in the concourse until the previous audience has left. Bags. Large backpacks are not allowed. Bags must be no larger than A4 and about 10 cm thick. Lockers are available at Mathildelaan 2A and at Eindhoven Centraal. Pushchairs are impractical because of the stairs\; if you bring one\, use entrance 35. Wheelchair users enter via entrance 36. No dogs are allowed in the stadium during the show. Weather. In extreme weather\, such as heavy rain or storms\, a show may be cancelled at short notice. You will then receive a link to reschedule. Flashing lights. The show uses regular flashes and colour patterns and is not recommended for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Combine with the GLOW route The Philips Stadion is within walking distance of the city centre\, so the drone show combines perfectly with the free GLOW route of about five kilometres. Book an early slot and walk the route afterwards\, or end your GLOW evening at the stadium with the 20:45 show. Accessible toilets are available at the stadium for ticket holders. Getting there The Philips Stadion is about a fifteen-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal. During GLOW\, many streets in the centre are closed to traffic in the evening and the festival strongly advises against coming by car. If you do\, pre-book a parking spot through GLOW's parking partner\; the Philips Stadion is one of the parking locations. For families At €2\, the drone show is one of the most affordable family outings of the year\, and children up to 3 go free. Fifteen minutes is also a perfect length for younger children. SUMMARY:Oi Va Voi
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Klezmer clarinets\, Balkan rhythms and electronic beats on a Sunday evening: on 8 November 2026 the London collective Oi Va Voi plays the small hall of the Effenaar. Who are Oi Va Voi? Oi Va Voi is a London-based collective that has been making music for more than twenty years. Their name is Yiddish for "oh dear God"\, and that sense of humour and warmth runs through their music. The band blends Jewish musical traditions and Eastern European folk with electronica\, pop and hip-hop\, creating a sound that is both old and modern: you might hear a melody that sounds like a wedding song from a Central European village over a beat that would work in a London club. The band's latest album\, The Water's Edge\, was released in 2025. Its songs are about connection and hope\, themes that fit a band whose music has always crossed borders between cultures\, styles and generations. What to expect Oi Va Voi are known as a lively live band\, with violin\, clarinet or trumpet\, guitars\, bass\, drums and electronics\, and singers who move between English and other languages. Their concerts often turn into a celebration\, with an audience that starts dancing halfway through. If you like world music\, folk with a modern twist or simply music with a lot of soul\, this is a good evening out. Practical information Date: Sunday 8 November 2026. Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:00. Hall: small hall (Kleine Zaal)\, standing. Tickets: €29 (regular). Effenaar Club Card members attend for free. The Effenaar's restaurant takes reservations if you want to have dinner before the show. GLOW in the city Oi Va Voi play on the second evening of GLOW\, the free light art festival that turns the city centre into a five-kilometre walking route of light installations every evening from 18:30 to 23:00. You could walk part of the route before the concert\, or after it: the route passes close to the Effenaar and the station area. For internationals Oi Va Voi's music needs no translation\, and the band itself is an international mix. The Effenaar staff speak English\, and the audience at a world-music concert like this is often as diverse as the music. If you are new in Eindhoven and looking for a relaxed Sunday evening plan\, this is a good one. Tips for the evening Book dinner in advance. During GLOW week\, restaurants in the centre are busy\; the Effenaar's own restaurant is a convenient option. Arrive in time to find a good spot in the small hall\, which holds about 400 people. Dress warmly if you plan to walk the GLOW route afterwards: November evenings can be cold. SUMMARY:Pernille Haaland: Nordic AF (English Stand-Up)
LOCATION:LAB-1\, Keizersgracht 19\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Dry\, deadpan and unapologetically Scandinavian: on Thursday 12 November 2026\, Norwegian comedian Pernille Haaland brings her English-language stand-up show Nordic AF to LAB-1 in the city centre of Eindhoven. Who is Pernille Haaland? Pernille Haaland is a stand-up comedian from Norway who performs in English across Europe. In 2024 she won the award for Best Stand-Up Comedian at the Reykjavik Fringe Festival in Iceland\, and in 2025 she was nominated for Best Comedian at the Norwegian comedy awards. Her style is dry and deadpan\, the kind of humour where the biggest laughs come from a straight face and a well-timed pause. The show In Nordic AF\, Haaland mixes personal stories with sharp social commentary. The show touches on politics\, modern dating and reproductive rights\, and on one of her more unusual experiences: performing stand-up for NATO personnel. Expect a comedian who isn't afraid of serious subjects\, but who finds the absurd side of them. For internationals in Eindhoven\, the Nordic perspective adds an extra layer. If you have ever compared Dutch directness with other cultures\, or wondered why every Scandinavian seems to take the cold so calmly\, you will probably recognise a lot. Practical information Date: Thursday 12 November 2026. Doors: 18:30. Show: 19:00 to about 21:00. Venue: LAB-1\, Keizersgracht 19\, Eindhoven. Language: English. Age rating: 16+. Tickets: through the LAB-1 website. The ticket price was not yet listed on the event page when we checked. An early show With a start at 19:00\, this is an early comedy night\, which leaves the rest of the evening free. And since the show falls in the middle of GLOW\, the free light art festival\, you can walk part of the GLOW route through the city centre after the show: the festival runs every evening until 23:00. English comedy in Eindhoven Eindhoven's English-language comedy scene has grown along with its international community. LAB-1 is at the centre of it\, with touring comedians like Haaland and the regular Bell's Comedy Club nights\, hosted by Irish comedian Stephen Bell. If you enjoy this show\, keep an eye on the comedy category for more. Tips for the evening Book in advance. Touring comedians at LAB-1 often sell out\, and the room is not large. Have a drink first. LAB-1 has a bar\, so arrive a little early and get a drink before the show. Sit where you like the risk. As at every stand-up show\, the front rows may become part of the act. Check the age rating. The show is 16+\, and the subjects are adult. Getting there LAB-1 is at Keizersgracht 19 in the city centre\, about a ten-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal. There are bike racks nearby and car parks in the centre. During GLOW\, some city-centre streets are closed to cars in the evening\, so walking\, cycling or public transport is the easiest way to get there. SUMMARY:Early James: Americana From Alabama
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:A raw voice\, an acoustic guitar and songs that sound like they were recorded in a Southern bar decades ago: on Thursday 12 November 2026\, Alabama singer-songwriter Early James plays Café Wilhelmina\, the intimate stage of the Effenaar. Who is Early James? Early James is an Americana singer-songwriter from Alabama in the American South. He got his first guitar at sixteen and soon started writing his own songs. His influences range from Johnny Cash to James Taylor\, and his music mixes blues\, rock and folk\, carried by a rough\, characterful voice that is impossible to forget once you have heard it. He was discovered by Dan Auerbach\, the singer and guitarist of The Black Keys\, who signed him to his record label. Auerbach also produced his 2025 studio album Medium Raw\, a record of twelve songs that mostly consists of just voice and guitar\, with now and then an upright bass and drums. That stripped-down sound puts the songs and the voice centre stage. Café Wilhelmina The concert takes place in Café Wilhelmina\, one of the smaller spaces of the Effenaar. For a singer-songwriter like Early James\, that is ideal: a small room where you hear every word and every guitar string\, and where artist and audience are only a few metres apart. Expect an evening that feels more like a listening session in a bar than a big concert. Practical information Date: Thursday 12 November 2026. Doors: 20:00. Start: 20:30. Location: Café Wilhelmina\, Effenaar. Tickets: €20 (regular). Effenaar Club Card members attend for free. Small rooms fill up quickly\; check the Effenaar website for availability before you go. Tips for the evening Arrive on time. In a small room\, a good spot makes all the difference. Listen quietly. Acoustic concerts in small spaces are best enjoyed with conversations kept for the bar. Combine with GLOW. The concert falls in the middle of GLOW\, the free light art festival that runs until 23:00 every evening. Walk part of the route before the doors open. Have dinner first. The Effenaar's restaurant takes reservations\, and the city centre is close by. For whom? If you like The Black Keys in their quieter moments\, Johnny Cash\, Tyler Childers or other Americana\, Early James is worth discovering. His songs are about the South\, love and life's rough edges\, told with humour and grit. For internationals Early James sings in English\, of course\, and an intimate concert by an American singer-songwriter is an easy\, relaxed evening out for anyone new to Eindhoven. The Effenaar staff speak English. Getting there The Effenaar is at Dommelstraat 2\, about five minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal\, so it is easy to reach by train from anywhere in the Netherlands. SUMMARY:Arrival of Sinterklaas in Eindhoven
LOCATION:Markt\, Markt\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:In the middle of November\, children all over the Netherlands are counting the days: Sinterklaas is coming. In Eindhoven\, his arrival (the "intocht") is expected on Saturday 14 November 2026\, on the Markt in the city centre. Admission is free. Please note: the date has been passed on by the local organisation to sinterklaas.nl\, but the full programme\, the route through the city and the end time have not yet been published. We will update this page as soon as the official details are known. Always check the latest information before you go. Who is Sinterklaas? For international families\, Sinterklaas can be a bit of a mystery. He is an old man with a long white beard\, a red bishop's robe and mitre\, and a staff. According to the story\, he lives in Spain and comes to the Netherlands every year by steamboat\, in the middle of November\, with his helpers. He rides a white horse over the rooftops at night. Sinterklaas is not the same as Santa Claus\, although they share the same historical roots in Saint Nicholas. The national arrival in 2026 takes place on the same day\, Saturday 14 November\, in Grave\, and is broadcast live on television. After that\, Sinterklaas visits towns and cities across the country\, including Eindhoven. What happens in Eindhoven? According to the information available so far: Date: Saturday 14 November 2026. Programme: starts at 12:00 on the Markt. Arrival of Sinterklaas: around 13:00. Location: the Markt\, in the city centre. In earlier years Sinterklaas arrived on the 18 Septemberplein\; in 2026 the arrival moves to the Markt. On the day itself\, the centre of Eindhoven turns into a large festival area. Expect music\, singing\, and lots of children dressed up\, waving and hoping for a handshake or a few pepernoten (small spiced biscuits). Check in advance which streets are closed. Tips for families Come early. The best spots near the Markt fill up well before Sinterklaas arrives. Learn a song. Children sing traditional Sinterklaas songs while waiting. Dutch classmates or neighbours will happily teach your children one. Dress warmly. Mid-November can be cold and wet\, and you may stand outside for a while. Leave the car at home. Public transport\, the bike or walking is the easiest way to reach the city centre. Note the busy evening. The same evening is the last evening of GLOW\, so the city centre will be busy all day. The weeks after the arrival After the arrival\, children put their shoe by the fireplace or the door in the evening\, often with a carrot for the horse\, and find a small present or sweets in it the next morning. The festivities end on the evening of 5 December\, when families celebrate pakjesavond (present evening) with gifts and humorous poems. Schools celebrate too\, so international children quickly learn all about it. Why go? The arrival of Sinterklaas is one of the most typically Dutch traditions there is\, and for young children it is pure magic. For newcomers it is also a great way to understand something that every Dutch person grew up with. See also Eindhoven with kids\, the free events in the city and the calendar for November 2026.

On Thursday 19 November 2026\, Anneke van Giersbergen plays the main hall of the Effenaar with an eight-piece band\, presenting her new work. The Maastricht band Lesoir opens the evening. Who is Anneke van Giersbergen? In the 1990s Anneke van Giersbergen became known as the singer of The Gathering\, the band from Oss in North Brabant that grew from heavy metal into atmospheric rock and gained fans all over Europe. Her voice\, clear\, powerful and emotional\, became the band's signature. After leaving The Gathering she built a solo career and collaborated with a long list of artists from the rock and metal world\, which has made her one of the most respected Dutch singers internationally. New music: La Vie\, La Mort\, L'Amour Her new project is an album in three parts: La Vie\, La Mort\, L'Amour (life\, death\, love). The first part was released in February 2025\, followed by the second part\, La Mort. On this international club tour she presents the music with an eight-piece band\, which promises a rich\, full sound\, quite different from her intimate acoustic shows. Their atmospheric\, layered rock is a natural match for Van Giersbergen's music. Arrive on time to see them. Practical information Date: Thursday 19 November 2026. Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:15. Hall: main hall (Grote Zaal). Tickets: €28. Support: Lesoir. The Effenaar's restaurant takes reservations for dinner before the show. The same evening On the same evening\, the Dutch band HAEVN plays a sold-out concert at the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Two concerts in the city centre on one Thursday evening means busy streets around the station\, so allow a little extra time. Tips for the evening Arrive for the support act. Lesoir's atmospheric rock is a fitting start to the evening. Earplugs are a good idea in the main hall\, especially with an eight-piece band. Check the merch stand. New albums and tour merchandise are usually on sale in the hall. Combine with dinner. The Effenaar restaurant and the city centre are both close by. Getting there The Effenaar is at Dommelstraat 2\, about five minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal\, so it is easy to reach by train from anywhere in the Netherlands. SUMMARY:HAEVN: Club Tour
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 19 November 2026 the Dutch duo HAEVN brings its club tour to the Hertog Jan Zaal of the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. The concert is sold out\, which is no surprise: HAEVN's concerts in Eindhoven have sold out several times before. Who are HAEVN? HAEVN is a duo of film composer Jorrit Kleijnen and singer-songwriter Marijn van der Meer. Their music is cinematic pop: songs with the scale and emotion of a film score\, built from symphonic arrangements\, electronic layers and Van der Meer's warm\, intimate voice. The Muziekgebouw files the concert under pop\, electronic pop and rock\, but the combination of orchestral sounds and electronics gives HAEVN a sound of its own. The duo has grown into one of the most internationally streamed Dutch artists. In 2026 they played two sold-out concerts at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam\, appeared at major festivals such as Pinkpop and Rock Werchter\, and played large venues abroad. What to expect On this tour\, HAEVN play new music that has not yet been performed live\, alongside earlier songs such as We Are\, Where the Heart Is and Till the Morning. A concert in the Muziekgebouw\, a hall built for acoustic music\, suits their detailed\, layered sound. Practical information Date: Thursday 19 November 2026. Doors: 19:15. Start: 20:15. Hall: Hertog Jan Zaal\, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tickets: €54. The concert is sold out. Seating: free seating\, with standing places and a limited number of seats. Looking for a ticket? Since the show is sold out\, keep an eye on the Muziekgebouw's official channels for returned tickets. Be wary of tickets offered on social media or unofficial resale sites: they may be fake or heavily overpriced. For internationals HAEVN sing in English\, and their music is known well beyond the Netherlands. A HAEVN concert is a good introduction to the Dutch pop scene for anyone who has just moved to Eindhoven. The same evening On the same evening\, former The Gathering singer Anneke van Giersbergen plays the Effenaar. If you couldn't get a HAEVN ticket\, that is a good alternative for an evening of atmospheric music in the city centre. Tips for the evening Come early if you want to sit. Seating is free and the number of seats is limited. Have dinner nearby. The restaurants around the Markt and the 18 Septemberplein are a few minutes' walk from the Muziekgebouw. Plan your way home. The concert ends on a weeknight\; check your train or bus in advance. Keep your ticket digital and safe. Only show it at the door\, and don't share screenshots online. SUMMARY:Iris Hond and Kamerata Zuid: Einaudi's Domino
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Ludovico Einaudi's piano music is loved by millions\, from concert halls to film soundtracks and streaming playlists. On Friday 27 November 2026 pianist Iris Hond and the ensemble Kamerata Zuid bring it to the Hertog Jan Zaal of the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Einaudi's Domino\, in full At the heart of the evening is Domino\, a solo concert by the Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi\, performed in full. Einaudi is one of the most popular composers of our time: his minimalist\, melodic piano pieces have become the soundtrack of films\, television series and countless quiet evenings at home. His music is easy to love\, but not easy to play well. It depends on touch\, timing and atmosphere. Iris Hond gives the music a new interpretation\, and Einaudi himself has praised her playing\, calling one of her performances among the most beautiful performances of his music. That is high praise from a composer who has heard his work played by pianists all over the world. More than Einaudi The programme also includes Iris Hond's own compositions and well-known works by pianist-composers such as Alexander Scriabin and Sergei Rachmaninoff\, played by Kamerata Zuid. That makes the evening a journey from late-Romantic Russian piano music to contemporary minimalism. Kamerata Zuid Kamerata Zuid is an ensemble from the south of the Netherlands that celebrates its tenth anniversary with this programme. The concert repeats a successful tour with Iris Hond\, so the musicians know each other and the music well. Practical information Date: Friday 27 November 2026. Doors: 19:15. Start: 20:15. Hall: Hertog Jan Zaal\, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tickets: €39.50 (rank 1)\, interval drink included. Series: Classical Season 2026–27 of the Muziekgebouw. Prices and availability can change\; check the Muziekgebouw website for the latest information. For whom? This concert is a perfect introduction to classical music for people who think classical music isn't for them. Einaudi's music is familiar\, emotional and calm\, and the combination with Rachmaninoff and Scriabin shows where that style comes from. Experienced concert-goers will enjoy hearing a familiar repertoire in a fresh interpretation. Good to know There is no dress code. The interval drink is included: order it at the bar before the concert so it is ready at the interval. Arrive on time\, because latecomers may have to wait for a suitable moment to enter. A good evening for a first classical concert If you have never been to a classical concert\, this is a gentle start. The music is melodic and accessible\, the hall is comfortable\, and the evening has a clear shape: familiar Einaudi\, Romantic Russian piano music\, and Iris Hond's own work in between. Getting there The Muziekgebouw Eindhoven is on the Heuvel in the city centre\, about a ten-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal. The public entrance is at Heuvel 140. Car parks\, including the one under the Heuvel shopping centre\, and guarded bike parking are nearby. SUMMARY:PSV vs Go Ahead Eagles (Eredivisie)
LOCATION:Philips Stadion\, Frederiklaan 10a\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 28 November 2026\, PSV play Go Ahead Eagles from Deventer at the Philips Stadion in the Eredivisie\, the Dutch top league. Kick-off is at 18:45. About the opponent Go Ahead Eagles come from Deventer\, a historic Hanseatic city on the river IJssel in the east of the Netherlands. The club is one of the oldest professional football clubs in the country\, founded in 1902\, and plays in red and yellow. Its supporters are known for their loyalty and their noisy away support\, so expect a lively visitors' section. For PSV\, matches like this are about consistency: title races in the Eredivisie are often decided by results against clubs outside the traditional top three\, not just by the big matches against Ajax and Feyenoord. PSV at the Philips Stadion PSV was founded in 1913 as the sports club of Philips employees and has played on the same site in the Strijp district ever since. The stadium holds about 35\,000 spectators. The club won the European Cup in 1988 and has won the Dutch league many times. PSV fans proudly call themselves "boeren" (farmers)\, a nod to the club's Brabant roots. Tickets Many tickets for PSV home matches go to season-ticket holders and members with a PSV Club Card. Check the ticket information on psv.nl well in advance and only buy through PSV's official channels: tickets from unofficial sellers can be refused at the gate. We don't list a price\, because availability and prices depend on your membership. No ticket? Many cafés in the city centre show PSV matches on big screens. Match-day tips Check the kick-off time. Times can change for television\; PSV's match centre always shows the latest time. Arrive early. Entry takes time\; be at the stadium well before kick-off. Bring ID. You may be asked to show identification with your ticket. Dress warmly. Late November evenings in the stadium can be cold and damp. Wear red and white\, the colours of PSV. A Saturday in Eindhoven An evening kick-off on a Saturday leaves the day free. On 28 November you could visit the Van Abbemuseum\, where artist Ei Arakawa-Nash gives performances during the day as part of the exhibition Museum as Sundial\, and walk to the stadium in the late afternoon. After the match\, the cafés of the city centre and Stratumseind are full of supporters. For newcomers If you have just moved to Eindhoven\, a regular league match is often an easier first visit than a Champions League night or a match against Ajax: tickets can be easier to get\, the atmosphere is still loud and passionate\, and you get a good feel for what PSV means to the city. Many families go together. Late November in the city At the end of November\, the city starts to prepare for the holidays. Sinterklaas has arrived\, the first lights appear in the streets\, and the concert halls are full. Check the calendar for November 2026 for more plans around the match. Getting there The Philips Stadion is at Frederiklaan 10a\, about a fifteen-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal. There is bike parking around the stadium. On match days the surrounding streets are busy and partly closed\, so walking or cycling from the city centre is usually the quickest way to get there. SUMMARY:Mitsuko Uchida: Haydn\, Mozart and Schubert
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Some musicians you should hear live at least once in your life. Mitsuko Uchida is one of them. On Sunday 29 November 2026 the pianist plays a solo recital in the Hertog Jan Zaal of the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, as part of the venue's series of great pianists. Who is Mitsuko Uchida? Mitsuko Uchida is one of the most admired pianists of our time. Born in Japan and based in London for many years\, she is especially known for her interpretations of Mozart and Schubert\, composers she has performed and recorded throughout her long career. Her playing is famous for its clarity\, its warmth and its attention to the smallest details\, and her recitals are known for carefully built programmes that connect composers from different centuries. The programme For this recital\, Uchida combines the Viennese classics with music from the twentieth century: Joseph Haydn: Variations in F minor. Arnold Schönberg: Sechs kleine Klavierstücke (Six Little Piano Pieces). Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Rondo in A minor\, K. 511. György Kurtág: Márta ligaturája. Franz Schubert: Piano Sonata in A major\, D. 959. It is a programme with a clear arc. Haydn's Variations in F minor are among his most personal piano works. Schönberg's six short pieces\, each lasting barely a minute\, are miniatures that changed the history of piano music. Mozart's Rondo in A minor is one of his most melancholic piano works\, and the short piece by the Hungarian composer György Kurtág\, a dedication to his wife Márta\, is an intimate moment of reflection. The evening ends with one of Schubert's last and greatest piano sonatas\, written in the final months of his life: a large\, songful work full of contrasts. You don't need to know these pieces to enjoy the concert. If you are new to classical music\, a solo recital by a pianist of this level is one of the best possible introductions. Practical information Date: Sunday 29 November 2026. Doors: 19:15. Start: 20:15. Hall: Hertog Jan Zaal\, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tickets: Premium €65\, rank 1 €55\, rank 2 €45\, rank 3 €35\, rank 4 €27. All tickets include an interval drink. Series: part of the Great Pianists series (Serie Grote Pianisten) and an ASML Headliner concert\, supported by ASML. Prices and availability can change\; always check the Muziekgebouw website for the latest information. Concerts by pianists of this calibre often sell out\, so it is wise to book early. Good to know Classical concerts in the Netherlands have few rules. There is no dress code: most people wear smart-casual clothes. Arrive on time\, because latecomers may have to wait until a suitable moment to enter. Applause usually comes at the end of a complete piece\, not between the movements of a sonata\; if in doubt\, wait until the rest of the hall starts clapping. SUMMARY:Jimmy Carr: Laughs Funny
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:One of the best-known stand-up comedians in the English-speaking world comes to Eindhoven. On Wednesday 9 December 2026\, Jimmy Carr brings his show Laughs Funny to the Hertog Jan Zaal of the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, with two shows on the same evening. Both are sold out. Who is Jimmy Carr? Jimmy Carr is a British comedian who has been one of the biggest names in stand-up for more than two decades. He is known for his rapid-fire one-liners\, his distinctive laugh and his very dark\, often deliberately offensive sense of humour. Many people know him from British television panel shows\, and he has released numerous stand-up specials that can be found on streaming services. His style is unmistakable: short\, perfectly timed jokes\, one after another\, often followed by an exchange with the audience. Carr is famous for his crowd work\, so if you sit near the front\, be prepared to become part of the show. Laughs Funny Laughs Funny is the title of his current show. True to form\, expect a fast-paced evening of one-liners and audience interaction. His material regularly touches on taboo subjects\, so it is not a show for the easily offended. The Muziekgebouw does not list an age rating\, but given his reputation\, it is not a show for children. Two shows Because of the demand\, the Muziekgebouw added an extra late-night show on the same evening: First show: doors 18:00\, start 19:00. Extra late-night show: doors 21:00\, start 22:00. Both shows take place in the Hertog Jan Zaal and both are sold out. Practical information Date: Wednesday 9 December 2026. Hall: Hertog Jan Zaal\, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tickets: Premium €75\, rank 1 €65\, rank 2 €60\, rank 3 €55. Sold out. Language: the Muziekgebouw does not state the language\, but Jimmy Carr performs in English. Looking for a ticket? Keep an eye on the Muziekgebouw's official channels for returned tickets. Avoid tickets offered on social media or unofficial resale sites\; they may be fake or heavily overpriced. Tips for ticket holders Arrive on time. Comedians don't wait\, and latecomers may have to wait for a pause to enter. Switch off your phone. Most comedians strongly dislike phones being used to film their material. Plan dinner around your show. For the 19:00 show\, eat early or afterwards\; for the 22:00 show\, there is time for a relaxed dinner in the city centre. English comedy in Eindhoven Jimmy Carr's sold-out evening shows how big the audience for English-language comedy in Eindhoven has become. For smaller\, more intimate nights\, see Bell's Comedy Club and touring comedians at LAB-1\, such as Pernille Haaland. SUMMARY:Janine Jansen and Alexandre Kantorow: Violin Sonatas
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Two of the most exciting musicians of our time on one stage: on Thursday 10 December 2026\, Dutch violinist Janine Jansen and French pianist Alexandre Kantorow play an evening of violin sonatas in the Hertog Jan Zaal of the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. The performers Janine Jansen is the best-known Dutch violinist in the world. She performs with the leading orchestras and conductors internationally and is known for her intense\, expressive playing and her love of chamber music. She is a regular guest at the Muziekgebouw\, so for many concert-goers in Eindhoven she is a familiar and much-loved face. Alexandre Kantorow is a French pianist who has taken the classical world by storm in recent years. The Muziekgebouw describes him as a fire-breathing virtuoso with a poetic charm\, which sums up his playing well: brilliant technique combined with a sense of colour and imagination. Together\, Jansen and Kantorow promise an evening of real partnership between violin and piano. The programme The evening consists of three great violin sonatas from three different eras: Ludwig van Beethoven: Violin Sonata\, Op. 12 No. 3. Claude Debussy: Violin Sonata in G minor. César Franck: Violin Sonata in A major. It is a programme with a clear arc. Beethoven's early sonata is bright and virtuosic\, written when he was a young pianist making his name in Vienna. Debussy's sonata\, one of the last works he completed\, is short\, mysterious and full of colour. And Franck's Sonata in A major is one of the most beloved works in the entire violin repertoire: lyrical\, passionate and ending in a radiant finale. In all three\, the piano is an equal partner rather than an accompanist\, which suits a duo of this calibre perfectly. Practical information Date: Thursday 10 December 2026. Doors: 19:15. Start: 20:15. Hall: Hertog Jan Zaal\, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tickets: Premium €59\, rank 1 €49\, rank 2 €39\, rank 3 €33\, rank 4 €27. All tickets include an interval drink. Series: Masters of Chamber Music (Meesters van de Kamermuziek)\, Classical Season 2026–27. Tips for the evening Order your interval drink in advance at the bar\, so it is ready at the interval. Choose your seats. For chamber music\, the sound is excellent throughout the hall\, so the cheaper ranks are very good value. No dress code. Smart-casual is fine. Arrive on time. Latecomers may have to wait until a suitable moment to enter. For internationals Classical music needs no translation\, and the Muziekgebouw's website and staff work in English. If you are new in Eindhoven and love classical music\, this is one of the highlights of the season. Getting there The Muziekgebouw Eindhoven is on the Heuvel in the city centre\, about a ten-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal. The public entrance is at Heuvel 140. SUMMARY:Bach's Magnificat: Christmas with the Netherlands Bach Society
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Few pieces of music sound as festive as Johann Sebastian Bach's Magnificat. On Tuesday 15 December 2026\, the Netherlands Bach Society (Nederlandse Bachvereniging) brings it to the Hertog Jan Zaal of the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven in a Christmas programme that brings together three members of the Bach family. The programme Gregorian chant: Ave Maris Stella. Wilhelm Friedemann Bach: Sinfonia in D minor. Johann Sebastian Bach: Magnificat\, with Christmas interpolations. Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach: Magnificat. Johann Sebastian Bach wrote his Magnificat in 1723\, in his first year as cantor in Leipzig\, for choir\, soloists and orchestra. It is a setting of the song of praise of Mary\, full of trumpets\, drums and joyful choruses\, and one of his most popular works. For Christmas\, Bach added extra movements\, the so-called Christmas interpolations\, which are included in this performance. What makes this programme special is the family connection. Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach were two of Johann Sebastian's sons and important composers in their own right. Hearing the Magnificat of father and son side by side shows how music changed in one generation\, from the Baroque to the early Classical style. The performers The Netherlands Bach Society is one of the world's leading ensembles for Baroque music\, known for performances on period instruments. For this programme it is conducted by Johanna Soller\, with soloists Carine Tinney and Kristen Witmer (sopranos)\, Alexander Chance (alto)\, Florian Sievers (tenor) and Jonas Müller (bass). Practical information Date: Tuesday 15 December 2026. Doors: 19:15. Start: 20:15. Hall: Hertog Jan Zaal\, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tickets: Premium €65\, rank 1 €55\, rank 2 €45\, rank 3 €39\, rank 4 €29. All tickets include an interval drink. Tips for the evening Book early. Christmas concerts are among the most popular of the season. Order your interval drink at the bar before the concert starts. No dress code\, though many people dress up a little for a Christmas concert. New to Baroque music? The Magnificat is a perfect introduction: about half an hour of bright\, energetic music with a clear structure. For internationals The texts are in Latin\, as was usual for church music of the time\, so no Dutch is needed. Concerts like this are part of the Christmas tradition for many people across Europe\, and a lovely way to start the holiday season in your new city. Christmas in the Muziekgebouw The Muziekgebouw has a full Christmas programme. The next evening\, Wednesday 16 December\, the Irish dance company Celtic Steps presents An Irish Christmas\, and on Sunday 20 December there is a pancake concert for young children. LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Irish dancing\, folk songs and Christmas classics in one evening: on Wednesday 16 December 2026\, the dance company Celtic Steps brings An Irish Christmas to the Hertog Jan Zaal of the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. The show An Irish Christmas is a warm\, festive evening for anyone who loves Irish music and traditional dance. In between\, the dancers show the precise\, rhythmic style of Irish dance that became world-famous through shows like Riverdance: arms still\, feet flying. Irish dance in a nutshell Irish dance has deep roots in Irish culture\, from village gatherings to formal competitions. Its modern stage form\, with large groups dancing in perfect unison\, became a global phenomenon in the 1990s. Practical information Date: Wednesday 16 December 2026. Doors: 19:15. Start: 20:15. Hall: Hertog Jan Zaal\, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tickets: rank 1 €47\, rank 2 €39.50. Both include an interval drink. For whom? An Irish Christmas is a good choice for a festive evening out with family\, friends or colleagues. The Muziekgebouw does not give an age recommendation\, but dance shows with live music are usually enjoyed by older children as well as adults. The show is presented in English and the songs are sung in English\, which makes it an easy choice for international visitors. Tips for the evening Book early. Christmas shows are popular and sell well. Order your interval drink in advance at the bar. Make it a night out. The Christmas lights in the city centre and the restaurants around the Markt are a few minutes' walk away. Look at the feet. The speed of the footwork is easier to appreciate from seats with a good view of the stage floor. Christmas in the Muziekgebouw The evening before\, the Netherlands Bach Society performs Bach's Magnificat\, and on Sunday 20 December there is a pancake concert for young children. Earlier in the month\, on Saturday 12 December\, the free Winter Market fills the building with more than 80 stalls. SUMMARY:Pancake Concert: A Chest Full of Winter Songs (Ages 2+)
LOCATION:Muziekgebouw Eindhoven\, Heuvel 140\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Pancakes and music on a Sunday morning: on 20 December 2026\, the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven hosts Een kist vol winterliedjes (a chest full of winter songs)\, a pancake concert for children from two years old\, in the first weekend of the Christmas holidays. What is a pancake concert? The pancake concerts (pannenkoekconcerten) are a series of concerts at the Muziekgebouw for young children and their parents or grandparents. The idea is simple and very Dutch: first you eat pancakes together\, and then you enjoy a short\, interactive concert. From 10:00\, an hour before the concert\, children can decorate their own pancake. The pancake is included in the ticket price. The concert In Een kist vol winterliedjes\, the duo Apennoten\, Nienke van den Berg and Bas Fortgens\, open a chest full of winter songs. They sing about snowballs\, pretty lights and frozen toes\, and children are invited to sing\, dance and make music along with them\, including with Christmas bells. It is a playful introduction to live music for the very youngest. Practical information Date: Sunday 20 December 2026. Doors and pancakes: from 10:00. Concert: 11:00. Location: the Second Foyer (Tweede Foyer) of the Muziekgebouw. Age: for children from 2 years old. Tickets: €12\; children €8. The pancake is included. Good to know for international families The concert is in Dutch\, as the songs and the title suggest. For toddlers that hardly matters: the songs are simple\, the music is live\, and joining in with bells\, dancing and clapping works in every language. Many international parents find concerts like this a nice way to introduce their children to Dutch songs\, and to meet other parents. Tips for parents Come at 10:00 to enjoy the pancakes without rushing. Book in advance. Family concerts in the holidays are popular. Bring a little patience. Toddlers concentrate for a limited time\, and the musicians know that: these concerts are made for wandering attention. Leave the pushchair in the cloakroom area if you can\; the foyer is easier to move around without it. SUMMARY:Black Box Revelation: 20 Years of Belgian Garage Rock
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:Two musicians\, one guitar\, one drum kit and twenty years of garage rock: on Saturday 23 January 2027\, the Belgian duo Black Box Revelation returns to the small hall of the Effenaar with new music. Who are Black Box Revelation? Black Box Revelation is a duo from Belgium: Jan Paternoster on guitar and vocals and Dries Van Dijck on drums. They started as teenagers playing raw garage rock and grew into a fixture of the international alternative rock scene\, touring well beyond Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2027 they celebrate their twentieth anniversary\, and they are back with a new album and\, in the Effenaar's words\, a new chapter. Their sound is heavy\, bluesy and direct: big riffs\, pounding drums and Paternoster's howling vocals. The Effenaar recommends the show to fans of Royal Blood\, The Black Keys and Queens of the Stone Age\, which gives a good idea of what to expect. A familiar stage Black Box Revelation and the Effenaar go back a long way: this is their sixth show at the venue. Bands that keep coming back to a club usually do so because the audience is good\, so expect an enthusiastic crowd of long-time fans\, joined by newcomers who have discovered the band more recently. Practical information Date: Saturday 23 January 2027. Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:00. Hall: small hall (Kleine Zaal)\, standing. Tickets: €22.50 (regular). Effenaar Club Card members attend for free. Prices and availability can change\; check the Effenaar website before you go. Tips for the evening Bring earplugs. Garage rock in a small hall is loud. Arrive early for a good spot\; the small hall holds about 400 people. Make a Saturday of it. Have dinner in the city centre first\, and finish the evening on Stratumseind. Dress for January. Leave your winter coat at the cloakroom: it gets warm inside. January in Eindhoven January is a quiet month in Eindhoven after the holidays\, which makes it a good time for concerts. The same weekend\, PSV play ADO Den Haag at home on Saturday evening\, and on Wednesday 27 January PSV face VfB Stuttgart in the Champions League. A week later\, singer-songwriter Heather Nova plays the Muziekgebouw. For internationals Black Box Revelation sing in English\, and a Belgian rock band in a Dutch club is about as international as it gets in this border region. The Effenaar staff speak English\, and the Saturday-night crowd is a mix of locals\, students and internationals. DESCRIPTION:A Champions League night with a special connection: on Wednesday 27 January 2027\, PSV play VfB Stuttgart at the Philips Stadion in the UEFA Champions League. Kick-off is at 21:00. Stuttgart and PSV For PSV supporters\, the name Stuttgart has a special ring. In 1988 PSV won the European Cup\, the predecessor of the Champions League\, in the final played in Stuttgart\, beating Benfica on penalties. In the same season the club also won the Dutch league and cup. Meeting a club from that city in the Champions League brings back memories for every older PSV fan. VfB Stuttgart is one of the traditional clubs of German football\, from the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg\, home to car makers such as Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. German clubs usually bring a large and loud group of away supporters\, so expect a full stadium and a lot of noise. PSV in the Champions League in 2026–27 This season PSV play several home matches in the Champions League\, including Club Brugge on 4 November\, Atlético Madrid on 9 December and VfB Stuttgart on 27 January. UEFA sets the dates and kick-off times\; PSV's match centre always has the latest information. Match-day tips Arrive early. Security checks take longer at European matches. Bring ID. You may be asked to show identification with your ticket. Dress warmly. A January evening in the stadium can be freezing. Plan your way home. The match ends around 23:00\; if you come from outside Eindhoven\, check the last train on ns.nl. Wear red and white. Watching in the city No ticket? On Champions League nights\, cafés in the city centre fill up with supporters watching on big screens. Arrive early to get a seat with a good view. It is one of the best ways to experience the atmosphere and meet locals\, especially in the quiet winter weeks after the holidays. For newcomers and German colleagues Eindhoven is close to the German border\, and many internationals in the region come from Germany. A match against a German club is the perfect occasion for some friendly rivalry at work. Whichever side you are on\, a European night at the Philips Stadion is something to experience at least once. SUMMARY:Carnival in Eindhoven: Lampegat 2027
LOCATION:Markt\, Markt\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:For a few days in February\, Eindhoven changes its name. From Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 February 2027\, the city becomes Lampegat\, and carnival takes over the streets\, squares and cafés\, from the Markt to Stratumseind. Taking part is free. What is carnival? Carnival is celebrated in the south of the Netherlands\, in the provinces of Brabant and Limburg\, in the days before Ash Wednesday\, the start of Lent. Its roots are Catholic\, but today it is above all a big popular festival. People dress up in costumes\, brass bands (called "zaate hermeniekes" in Brabant) play in the streets\, and cafés are full from morning till night. Everyone is equal during carnival: colleagues\, neighbours and strangers celebrate together. Why "Lampegat"? Every carnival town in Brabant has its own carnival name. Eindhoven's is Lampegat\, roughly "lamp hole"\, a reference to the city's history as the home of the Philips light bulb factories. During carnival\, people greet each other with "salaai"\, the special carnival greeting. What happens? The exact programme of 2027 will be announced by the carnival organisation on lampegat.com. In previous years\, carnival in Eindhoven followed this pattern: Friday evening: the parties start in the cafés\, the evening before the official carnival days. Saturday: the big parade (optocht) through the city\, with floats and groups in costumes. In 2026 the route ran from the Stratumsedijk past the Bleekweg\, the Kanaalstraat\, the Kerkstraat and the Wal\, among other places\, and was broadcast live by Omroep Brabant. Sunday: Stratumseind is the centre of the party\, with the famous pub crawl in which participants wear a large cardboard tie listing the pubs. Monday: the carnival prince appears\; in 2026 he made his entrance on the Wilhelminaplein. Tuesday: the closing celebrations on the Markt\, with music and entertainment. Check lampegat.com for the confirmed times and route of the 2027 parade before you go. Tips for first-timers Dress up. Without a costume you will feel out of place. You don't need anything elaborate: a colourful outfit\, a funny hat or a homemade costume is fine. Many locals wear the same costume every year. Learn "salaai". It is the greeting you will hear everywhere. Go with locals. If you have Dutch colleagues or neighbours who grew up in Brabant\, join them: they know the best places and the songs. Pace yourself. Carnival lasts several days\, and there is a lot of beer involved. Drink water in between. Pick a spot early for the parade. The best places along the route fill up quickly. Leave the car at home. Streets in the centre are closed and busy. Come on foot\, by bike or by public transport. With children Carnival is also a children's party. During the day\, many families watch the parade together\, and children dress up just as enthusiastically as adults. Many schools in the region celebrate carnival on the Friday before the holiday. The evenings in the cafés are for adults. For newcomers If you come from a country without carnival\, it can be quite a shock to see your serious colleagues dressed as clowns\, pirates or bananas. Our advice: join in. Carnival is one of the best moments of the year to get to know people and feel part of Brabant. Many offices in the region take it easy during carnival\, and schools in the south have a spring break around it. Getting there The carnival events take place in the city centre\, within walking distance of Eindhoven Centraal. Trains run to Eindhoven from all over the country\; expect them to be busy. SUMMARY:Midge Ure
LOCATION:Effenaar\, Dommelstraat 2\, Eindhoven
DESCRIPTION:The voice of Ultravox and one of the founders of Live Aid comes to Eindhoven. In February 2027\, the Scottish musician Midge Ure plays the main hall of the Effenaar\, with music from his first solo album in twelve years. Please note: the Effenaar's event page gives two different dates\, Wednesday 24 February and 27 February 2027. We will confirm the date with the venue before this listing goes live\; always check the Effenaar website before you buy a ticket. Who is Midge Ure? James "Midge" Ure is a Scottish singer\, guitarist and songwriter whose career spans more than five decades. He broke through in the 1970s and became best known as the singer and guitarist of Ultravox\, the new wave band behind some of the most atmospheric synth-pop of the 1980s. He also briefly played guitar with Thin Lizzy. Ure's name is linked to one of the most famous charity projects in music history. Together with Bob Geldof he co-founded Band Aid and Live Aid\, the projects that raised money for famine relief in Ethiopia in the 1980s and brought together the biggest stars of the time. Since then he has continued a solo career\, and now\, past seventy\, he still makes atmospheric pop. A new album: A Man of Two Worlds The tour follows his new album\, A Man of Two Worlds\, his first solo release in twelve years. The album is made up of two halves: the first eight tracks are instrumental\, the next eight are songs with vocals. That structure says a lot about Ure's music\, which has always moved between the cinematic\, electronic soundscapes of Ultravox and the classic song. Expect new material alongside songs that many in the audience will know by heart from the Ultravox years and his solo career. Practical information Date: February 2027 (24 or 27 February\, to be confirmed by the Effenaar). Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:15. Hall: main hall (Grote Zaal). Tickets: €45. For whom? If you grew up with the music of the 1980s\, this is a chance to hear one of its defining voices in a venue of human scale. Younger fans of synth-pop and electronic music will discover where much of today's music comes from. Ure sings in English\, and the Effenaar staff speak English. Tips Wait for the confirmed date before booking travel or a hotel. Buy tickets only through the Effenaar\, which lists the official sales channels on its event page. Expect a mixed audience of long-time Ultravox fans and younger synth-pop lovers.
