September is a special month in Eindhoven. The city was liberated on 18 September 1944, and every year it remembers that day with the Lichtjesroute, a route of light decorations through the neighbourhoods that starts on 18 September.
It is also the start of the new cultural season: concert halls and theatres open their programmes, and new students and internationals arrive at the TU/e and the companies around the city.
