DESCRIPTION:Two people\, one guitar\, one drum kit and a lot of noise: that has been the recipe of Blood Red Shoes for twenty years. On Tuesday 20 October 2026 the British duo celebrates its anniversary with an intimate club show in the small hall of the Effenaar. Who are Blood Red Shoes? Blood Red Shoes come from Brighton\, on the south coast of England. The band consists of Laura-Mary Carter on guitar and vocals and Steven Ansell on drums and vocals. With only two members\, they make a surprisingly big sound: raw\, loud and full of energy\, somewhere between indie\, punk and rock. They are often compared with other famous duos such as The White Stripes\, The Black Keys and The Kills\, but anyone who has seen them live knows they have their own sound\, with two voices that trade lines and harmonise. Their breakthrough came with the album Box of Secrets in 2008\, full of short\, sharp songs that made them a favourite at indie clubs and festivals across Europe. Since then they have released several albums\, with their most recent studio album\, Ghosts On Tape\, released in 2022. Over the years their music has grown darker and more varied\, but the urgency of their early records has never disappeared. Twenty years on the road In 2026 Blood Red Shoes celebrate twenty years as a band\, and they are doing it the way they started: in small clubs\, close to their audience. The Effenaar's small hall holds about 400 people\, which makes it the perfect place to see a band that thrives on energy and sweat. Expect songs from across their career\, from the early singles that made them popular to later work. Support: Sm^sher The evening opens with Sm^sher\, the support act announced by the Effenaar. Arrive on time if you want to catch them. Practical information Date: Tuesday 20 October 2026. Doors: 19:30. Start: 20:15. Hall: small hall (Kleine Zaal) of the Effenaar. Tickets: €29 (regular ticket). Effenaar Club Card members can attend for free. Standing: the small hall is a standing venue. Ticket prices and availability can change\, so check the Effenaar website before you go. On the evening itself\, keep the time the doors open in mind: the start time on the ticket is not the time the main act starts. With a support act first\, Blood Red Shoes will probably take the stage later in the evening. Why go? If you like guitar music with energy\, this is one of the best club shows of the autumn. Duos like Blood Red Shoes are at their best in small venues\, where you can see every drumbeat and every guitar riff up close. It is also a nice midweek plan during Dutch Design Week\, which runs in Eindhoven at the same time: spend the day at the exhibitions\, and end it at the Effenaar. For internationals The band sings in English\, the Effenaar staff speak English\, and a midweek concert is a great way to discover the Eindhoven music scene if you are new in the city. The audience at the Effenaar is a mix of locals\, students and internationals. Getting there The Effenaar is at Dommelstraat 2\, about five minutes' walk from Eindhoven Centraal\, which makes it easy to come by train from elsewhere in the country.
